Chellsie's Opinion

I believe a main issue in the upcoming election is the definition/sanctity of marriage. I believe the only candidate that has any grasp on these values is John McCain.

Marriage officially defined is the union between one man and one woman to be upheld and respected until death. However, our society does not agree with these terms. We live in a culture that has become numb to things such as right and wrong, and that in turn affects the way we see this union. John McCain sees marriage the way it should be seen, as a sacred union.

Marriage is currently under attack in this country, with homosexual couples attempting to gain the right to title their relationships as marriages. This is contradictory to the very core values of what marriage is, and that is heterosexual. John McCain will not allow them to do this. While entitling them to civil unions, he refuses to defile the union of marriage by opening it to homosexual couples. He values the integrity and sanctity of what marriage was originally designed to be and is not willing to compromise his beliefs and change it.

John McCain is also willing to uphold our second amendment rights to bear arms and defend ourselves. While Obama would ban the use of fully and semi-automatic weapons, even for home defense, McCain is able to see that it is our Constitutional right to bear firearms. While Obama would like to eliminate guns completely, McCain would move to allow those who are qualified to continue to own firearms and those who aren't qualified would cease to be allowed to until those requirements were met.

Fundamentally, I believe John McCain is a better choice for America. He is the only candidate who would uphold our Constitutional rights and legitimate moral standards, and overall his election would be productive for our country.

John McCain's Stances on Key Issues

Economy - McCain wants both short-term immediate actions and long-term actions to fix the economy. He wants to lower taxes by reducing the capital gain tax for two years and a $3000 relief plan for families.

Energy - McCain wants cleaner energy sources by developing advanced transportation and using alternative fuels to promote independence.

Health Care - He will ensure that health care companies will compete vigorously for customer equality and affordability and be rewarded for doing so. He also wants people to keep their insurance from job to job.

Iraq - He wants to establish long-term peace and a stable democratic state in Iraq. He wants to quickly train Iraqi troops to safeguard their own country so American troops can leave.

Immigration - McCain wants to secure our borders and prevent more illegal immigrants from entering our country. He wants to have compassion for the immigrants that are already here, and help them become true citizens.

Education - He wants to make high standards for all children and not keep some invisible. He wants students to compete with other industrialized nations and hire and reward the most effective character-building network.

Homeland Security - McCain will bring his administration strong management at a federal level. He will use public private relationships spanning from planning to implementation and operations.

Sanctity of Life - He will elect Supreme Court Justices that will overturn Roe V. Wade. The government will help provide money to support women birthing babies and places supporting the women.

Climate Change - McCain will reduce emissions by scientifically-proven climate control policies. We will also work with other countries to help reduce greenhouse gases.

Leo's Opinion

The only true choice for the next president of the United States is John McCain. He has the experience to make a huge difference. Life will also be protected under him.

John McCain's worldly experience greatly favors him as the next president. He knows how world leaders think, and he can deal with them in an effective manner. Barack Obama is not ready to deal with foreign policies and the pressures of the presidency.

Life is sacred, and it must be protected. John McCain knows this and will fight to protect life. Abortion is a direct violation of the Constitution where it states that all people are entitled to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Life begins at conception, and so does your constitutional rights. During McCain's term, he will replace retiring Supreme Court Justices who are pro-choice with pro-life Justices. Then we will finally overturn Roe V. Wade and prove it unconstitutional. John McCain will start to turn the U.S. from a culture of death into a culture of life.

The war in Iraq must be handled diligently. We can not pull out of Iraq too quickly. John McCain understands this and will work patiently to secure Iraq and to get our troops home. Obama may be too quick to act, and all our work in Iraq may go to waste. John McCain knows that when we can effectively train Iraq to be a secured, democratic nation, it will be safe to come home.

Some issues are more important than others. While extremely high gas prices are a pain, protecting life needs to take first place. A man who puts life at the top of his list of priorities knows how to handle matters in the proper way. Protecting life can be an issue supported by a president. Gas prices, the housing crisis, and the economy can be impacted in a less serious way by the president. These issues will need the support of the other branches of government and proper time to work themselves out.

John McCain will lead our country into a bright future based on life.
